The Transition Houston Transportation Action Group (TAG) is sponsoring a Bike Rodeo on the morning of Saturday, September 15.  This will be a fun opportunity for kids to learn how to ride a bicycle safely.  Training is going to be provided for folks who would like to help with the Rodeo (and we hope you might like to!).

The bike rodeo volunteer training by Bike Texas will be Saturday, July 14, 10:30-2, at the Green Building Resource Center at the east end of Washington Avenue. The SafeCyclist Curriculum is a comprehensive bicycle and pedestrian safety education curriculum designed for fourth and fifth grade elementary students. The SafeCyclist Certification Training provides teachers, public safety and youth professionals with bicycle and pedestrian safety interactive lessons and the curriculum needed to teach these life-saving skills to their students.

Please register by emailing or calling Brenda Chuleewah, Teacher Training Manager:  education@biketexas.org  or 512-476-RIDE (7433).

The volunteer training is be open to everyone--gym teachers, school teachers, community leaders, etc.  We're hoping that the attendees will then be able to help with the event in the fall.  Not everyone at the event in the fall will need to be certified to volunteer, but having a strong number of people who understand what needs to be done, and how, will be helpful.
